Supported spindles come in many styles, but basically they are meant to be used with
the point on a surface, and the fiber twisting off the thin top point. Generally
these are useful for making really thin yarns and threads. Since they are supported,
the working weight of the spindle doesn’t really change much as it is filled with
Turkish Style Spindles
Spin time is usually one of the considerations of notice for this type, which is
why I usually spin them dry several times and list them as a range of times. You
may not get the same results if you spin dry, as I do, but hopefully it will give
you an idea of the time of one, compared to others that I list in similar fashion.
I sell these mostly in singles, however I offer sets at times. I prefer to list separately,
so that you can make your own set. Different people look at different points of interest
to see what belongs as a ‘set’.
